First state-wide warning day in Rhineland-Palatinate

In addition to the nationwide warning day in September, the ministry would like to establish the state-wide warning day as a regular practice date on the second Thursday in March of each year. It is intended to help test and further optimize the existing systems and processes under realistic conditions.

The warning is triggered at around 10 a.m. via the Modular Warning System (MoWaS) in the Civil Protection Situation Center. Various warning tools are used, including cell broadcast and warning apps such as NINA and KATWARN. There will be no further warning, such as sirens, in Idar-Oberstein as these are not connected to MoWaS. The all-clear is given at around 10.45 am.
