World Children's Day festival with the band Trommelfloh

In addition to a colorful supporting program on children's rights, there will be two concerts by the Berlin band Trommelfloh: A school and nursery event will take place at 9.30 am and a family concert at 4 pm. The event is sponsored by the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry for Family Affairs, Women, Culture and Integration and supported by KIWANIS and the Roland Foundation.

Cheeky and cheerful, sometimes loud and sometimes quiet, the likeable children's music pirate Maxim Wartenberg captures the hearts of his little fans with his Trommelfloh band. He rocks and swings, amuses and enthrals. No one has ever appealed to children like he does. Tim Schöne, the best and messiest drummer in the world, and Jens "Hyper, Hyper" Niemann on the keys give the Trommelfloh its very own sound. With lively join-in songs about daring "adventurers and pirates", about "going swimming" or the ZDF/KIKA hit "Homework Machine", the Trommelflöhe delight their audience.

This year's World Children's Day on September 20 is being celebrated under the motto "With children's rights into the future". On the 70th anniversary of this day, UNICEF Germany and the German Children's Fund are calling for politicians to focus their priorities more on children. Because every young person is a great opportunity for the future of our society. And it is the right of every child to develop well and to be able to shape their lives - regardless of where they come from or what their residence status is. Investing in children is necessary right now in order to overcome the major challenges of our time. At the same time, it is important to defend children's rights and human rights as a democratic society against all forms of discrimination. In addition, the Week of Children's Rights takes place around World Children's Day in Rhineland-Palatinate. It also has an annually changing motto based on articles from the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Under the motto "Strong children say NO!", the focus in 2024 will be on Article 34: Protection from sexual abuse. This article aims to ensure that children worldwide are protected from sexual abuse and exploitation.
