The "Sports Badge Day" campaign is primarily aimed at people who are not active in a club but would still like to take the German Sports Badge. Of course, clubs in which the sports badge is already being taken can also take part in the campaign. Their participants will of course be scored for the respective club. The event is supported by the athletics clubs of the town of Idar-Oberstein, the DLRG and the DRK water rescue service.
Almost all athletics disciplines - in part or in full - can be completed at the Bein sports facility on the acceptance day. Disciplines that are not successfully completed on this day can also be tested at a later date at the participating clubs. The swimming disciplines can currently be completed in the open swimming pools. Athletes must clarify in advance with the respective operators whether an examiner is available. Appointments for the acceptance of swimming disciplines can also be arranged with the DRK Wasserwacht or the DLRG.
In order to reach as many participants as possible, the Kreissparkasse Birkenfeld has offered an additional motivation: for every sports badge completed, it donates a sum to the Kuratorium für Sporttalentförderung im Landkreis Birkenfeld.
