Announcement
of the Chief Electoral Officer of the City of Idar-Oberstein for the entry of residents who are exempt from the obligation to register to vote and certain German residents who are entitled to vote in the electoral roll
I.
On Sunday, November 10, 2024, the election of the Advisory Board for Migration and Integration of the City of Idar-Oberstein will take place.
II.
1. foreign residents entitled to vote who are exempt from the obligation to register and are therefore not registered in the municipality and therefore cannot be entered in the voters' register ex officio can apply for entry in the voters' register at the Idar-Oberstein municipal administration, electoral office, Georg-Maus-Straße 1, 55743 Idar-Oberstein.
2. it is not clear from the registration register how German citizenship was acquired. Therefore, German citizens entitled to vote who have acquired German citizenship
a) as late repatriates or their family members pursuant to Section 7 of the Citizenship Act,
b) pursuant to Section 4 (1) in conjunction with (4) of the Citizenship Act and one parent is a foreigner or late repatriate or their family member pursuant to Section 7 of the Citizenship Act,
cannot be entered in the voters' register ex officio.
These persons may also apply to be entered in the electoral roll at the Idar-Oberstein municipal administration, electoral office, Georg-Maus-Straße 1, 55743 Idar-Oberstein, provided they have reached the age of 16 on the day of voting and meet the requirements of Section 1 (1) Nos. 2 and 3 of the Local Elections Act.
III.
Foreign residents who are not required to register and German voters with a migration background can apply to be entered in the electoral roll until Friday, November 8, 2024, 6:00 p.m., at the Idar-Oberstein City Administration, Electoral Office, Georg-Maus-Straße 1, 55743 Idar-Oberstein.
Application forms can be obtained from the electoral office of the Idar-Oberstein city administration or on the Idar-Oberstein city homepage(https://www.idar-oberstein.de/) in the Politics and Administration, City Administration section, under Elections. Further information can be obtained from the Idar-Oberstein city council electoral office, Georg-Maus-Straße 1, room I 219 and by calling 06781/64-1113 and 1125.
IV.
I would like to point out that the election will not take place if no nominations are submitted or admitted or the total number of admitted candidates does not exceed the number of members of the Advisory Board to be elected. Whether or not the election can take place will be announced by October 29, 2024 at the latest.
