Service description
The registration office of the city or municipality where you are registered with your main or secondary residence will issue you with a registration certificate on request.
The simple registration certificate, often also called proof of residence, contains the following information:
- Family name
- Former names
- First names with marking of the common first name,
- Doctoral degree
- Order name, stage name
- Date and place of birth and, if born abroad, also the country of birth
- Current addresses, marked according to main and secondary residence
Special information for - City of Idar-ObersteinIf the registration certificate is required for social purposes, it is free of charge. Proof of this must be provided in writing when applying.
What documents are required?
- Identity card or passport
- If applicable, written power of attorney and identity card or passport of the authorized person

Legal basis
What else should I know?
Certificates for other persons can only be sent to the person concerned in writing or handed over on presentation of a power of attorney.
Upon request, an extended registration certificate can be issued, which may contain data in accordance with Section 3 (1) of the Federal Registration Act, with the exception of information and transmission blocks. The data scope of the extended registration certificate may also be less than the data scope of the simple registration certificate.
